Doane University, a liberal arts university in Crete, Nebraska, is looking for a Service Center Specialist II. In this role you will be an active member of Doane University's Service Center focusing on great service delivery experiences for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. In this position you are responsible for a broad range of customer service functions including switchboard, service desk, technology services, printing, mail services, library services, and bookstore assistance. You will also assist in training and supervising student staff.

The Service Center Specialist II serves as a trusted point of contact to support students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders reporting issues, requesting information, access, or other services ensuring the successful delivery of service through multiple channels including human, digital, self-service and automated.

Key Responsibilities in this position:

  • Provides first line investigation and diagnosis and promptly allocates issues as appropriate
  • Actively maintains knowledge in one or more specialized areas
  • Collaborates with other specialists to ensure advice given is appropriate
  • Investigates operational needs and contributes to the recommendation of improvements
  • Assists with the development and application of standards
  • Monitors service records to identify actions required to maintain or improve service


  • Associate Degree in customer service/information technology or related field or equivalent work or military experience.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Required for Position:

  • Customer service, Problem management, Incident management

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Preferred for Position:

  • ITIL related skills for service desk management

Licenses and Certifications:

  • ITIL and customer service-related certifications preferred
