Doane University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Art to start August 2023. MFA required, college teaching experience preferred, to teach core and advanced courses in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking. The teaching load is 21 credit hours per year (Fall and Spring).
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an awareness of critical issues facing art programs and possess the ability to engage in cross-disciplinary teaching. Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of contemporary and historic trends and concepts in art; be able to teach studio art courses with a strong commitment to communicating with undergraduate students on multiple levels; be familiar with digital environments and have an active exhibition
record. The ability to engage with colleagues in an ongoing collaboration on the evolution of the department is expected; for experienced candidates, there is also the possibility of contributing to administrative leadership for the department. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to teach in university-wide interdisciplinary programs.
