Doane University invites applications for the position of Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager at its nationally recognized campus in Crete, Nebraska. As a member of our Advancement Team, we are looking for a motivated individual ready to increase donor relations through personalized cultivation and stewardship opportunities. The Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager is responsible for maintaining donor connections to the University and enhancing all aspects of the major gift experience as well as providing support to the advancement office in general.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all donor and alumni records.
  • Create and manage a robust donor stewardship program that encompasses endowment and gift acknowledgements and reporting, dedications, and donor recognition events and displays.
  • Manage the complete process of endowment reporting, including annual financial reports and impact reports for all endowment donors. Support the ongoing connection to the Business Office and President's Office to ensure timely reports for endowed fund utilization and impact reporting.
  • Coordinates and drives major donor engagement events and programs in coordination with development officers. Collaborates with events staff, marketing and internal/external partners for major gift donor events.
  • Support special events, ongoing physical recognition projects, and one-off physical recognition projects.
  • Manage baseline stewardship projects such as Thanksgiving cards, Christmas cards, student thank you notes, donor impact statements, ordering donor gifts, etc.
  • Facilitate stewardship events for donor society members (virtual and in person).
  • Assist Advancement team with operations and execution of events such as hosting donors during athletic events, alumni reunions, Homecoming, and other events, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Advancement Campaign Marketing Manager to create effective messaging.
  • Manage stewardship supply inventory.
  • Work special events including an occasional evening and/or weekend.
  • Provide back up support for donation gift entry (online and offline) into CRM database and generate commensurate gift acknowledgement communication in a timely fashion.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Required for Position:

  • Bachelor's degree

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to safeguard the confidentiality of donor information and uphold college policies.
  • A poised, professional manner and an ability to establish congenial working relationships with diverse constituencies, including staff, faculty and trustees, donors, volunteers, alumni, students, parents, and various university partners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues and staff.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Ability to perform standard business math; track financial data and make projections; draft and compose correspondences and standard reports; plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks, and use independent judgment.
  • Ability to travel and attend meetings and functions at various hours as required.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in Philanthropy
  • Experience in a college, university, or a national campaign environment helpful.
  • Experience with an alumni database or donor management
