Doane University invites applications for the position of Executive Director of Student Support Services and Director of TRiO Project at its nationally recognized campus in Crete and Lincoln, Nebraska. As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for the oversight of our Academic Success Center (ASC), TRiO (Student Support Services), and related operations on Doane's Crete and Lincoln campuses. The successful candidate will serve as the institutional liaison with the Department of Education, managing the budget, student intake, programming, personnel, assessment, and reporting in compliance with federal guidelines and in support of Doane's educational mission.
The Academic Support Center offers a wide range of opportunities designed to enhance the success of students at all levels, from first year through graduate school. The opportunities include supporting students on the campuses and online with resources, academic counseling, accommodations, activities, and other services to improve students' academic success. The TRiO project helps provide an institutional climate supportive of disadvantaged students.
Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
- Formulate and recommend to the Chief Academic Officer an annual budgetary proposal for all functions and offices under the federally funded SSS project and ASC offices and administer the federal grant in accordance with all guidelines.
- Submit all required reports that document the ASC offices and the project's progress toward its objectives and purpose.
- Serve on standing and ad hoc committees which formulate policies related to project objectives and participants, and to serve as the participants' advocate, especially concerning matters of financial aid and academic standing.
- Participate in hiring appropriately qualified staff for the ASC office and TRiO project.
- Review with each project staff member the overall project purpose, objectives, and staff responsibilities.
- Design and implement new staff orientation and in-service training for the project staff as well as orient all new key college personnel to project goals/objectives.
- Establish and implement guidelines for the identification, assessment, evaluation, and intake of all SSS students.
- Obtain all necessary background/performance information on eligible students.
- Maintain accurate records on project participants.
- Arrange or provide personal, career, and academic counseling for all project participants.
- Manage the tutorial program, this includes the identification, training, and supervision of all tutors.
- Meet with SSS participants who are suspended in order to take appropriate action regarding readmission and/or career alternatives.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience administering TRIO projects in designing, implementing, or managing postsecondary programs with similar purposes.
- Demonstrated interest and training in academic programming, stress management, and/or testing and measurement.
Education Required for Position:
- Master's degree in curriculum and instruction, developmental studies, counseling, or educational administration
Education Preferred for Position:
- Doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction, developmental studies, counseling, or educational administration
