Doane University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Leadership and Service at its nationally recognized campus in Crete, Nebraska. In collaboration with the Director, you will develop, facilitate, and enrich Leadership and Service initiatives and coordinate leadership development activities and events.
A significant part of the Assistant Director's role is the ability to impact student development on campus. You will serve as a crucial staff member who works closely with the Hansen Leadership Program (HLP) and Directions Leadership Living Learning community. Additionally, you will teach courses within the cohort, supervises the Directions mentors, and advise the Relay for Life and Doane Serves student organizations.

Essential Responsibilities Related to Leadership:
- Collaborates with the Director of CLS to revise, update and expand leadership development curriculum and initiatives within Student Affairs. Specifically, work with the Hansen Leadership Program and Directions Leadership Cohort.
- Provide instruction in the Leadership minor, housed in the College of Business, for first and second year Directions students.
- Coordinate and track Directions scholarship requirements to increase retention.
- Select, train, and supervise Directions mentors who meet with Directions students weekly. Oversee the mentorship program and its students.
- Collaborate with the Director of CLS in advising student leadership groups within the HLP.
- Responsible for ensuring websites and print materials pertaining to HLP are current.
- Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new students in the Directions Leadership Cohort.
- Assist in the execution of New Student Orientation including Enrollment Days, Fall Orientation, and Spring Orientation
- Assist with the coordination of and implementation of schedule, program logistics, and staffing related to Transfer Student Orientation.
Essential Responsibilities Related to Service:
- Serve as the main campus staff advisor for Relay For Life, the campus-wide philanthropic event focused on fundraising for the American Cancer Society.
- Select, train, and supervise Doane Serve student site leaders who manage multiple signature service events including alternative breaks, blood drives, the mobile food pantry, a student food pantry, and others.
- Identify, visit, and orient community partner organizations to develop meaningful, impactful, and reciprocal partnerships.
- Solicit and evaluate feedback from partner organizations related to the satisfaction and effectiveness of partnerships.
- Cultivate productive partnerships with campus partners and other Doane University institutions (Doane Lincoln, Omaha) including opportunities for service programs.
- Manage a volunteer database (Helper Helper) that assists students in tracking volunteer hours and locating volunteer opportunities.
- Responsible for ensuring websites and print materials pertaining to service programs are current.

Education/Training Required:
- Bachelors degree

Licenses and Certifications Required:
- A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the university's automobile insurance provider
