Doane University invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach at its nationally recognized undergraduate campus in Crete, Nebraska. We are looking for someone who is focused and goal-orientated to manage the sport and student-athletes in the best interest of Doane University and in accordance with all the rules of the NAIA and the GPAC Conference. The ability to effectively supervise and develop student-athletes and one or more assistant coaches will be a key part of succeeding in this role.
The successful head coach must demonstrate:
- An excellent knowledge of the sport;
- Proven ability to teach the sport to student athletes and the ability to effectively recruit and retain student-athletes
- The ability to represent Doane University in a positive and effective manner.
Primary/Essential Job Duties:
- The Head Coach has full responsibility for the supervision of the softball program including day to day operations, practice planning, competition schedules, and travel arrangements for the team
- Demonstrating competitive excellence by preparing the team to compete at a level commensurate with the resources available, and by following all applicable rules and regulations (GPAC and NAIA).
- Supervises student workers and those assigned to assist the softball program and communicates with the Doane Maintenance Staff regarding the facility set up for practice and competition.
- Demonstrating excellence and contributing to the University's resource engine by recruiting to consistently meet enrollment goals.
Education/Training Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Playing or coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the university's automobile insurance provider
